we got a winner or maybe not

I know I am really late in picking up the winner for the recent give-away.
The good new is the there will be 3 winners !!

  1. Anna (who commented on my post)

  2. Sarah De Guzman

  3. Erna

Ladies, please kindly email your mailing address to dorcasyhj@gmail.com !!!

------------------------

These 2 months was bad, there were a couple of serious matters that I got to settle and in midst of them, I kinda got lost and confuse and becoming doubtful about myself as a person on a whole, and as a mother. There was this special night that I decided to have to little talk with GOD, and to his grace, i see enlightments. It feels good that you know you have someone special to talk to.

Its not surprising to many others that I actually head back and 'restore' my old tiny little website after silently stopping it for a near 1 year. But i am grateful that everything comes together very smoothly and quicky after I have settled my thoughts and gather the faith and strength.

From Cherish All Memories, a kit selling club, here comes the new look, new concept, new everything .....

Not sure if its going to be a money making biz, but hey, I am facing up to myself, having a dream fulfill rather then sitting back in a reality. If it can make it, i am glad, if it doesn't, at least I tried. =)

BIRTHDAY PARTY + HALLOWEEN + RAK GIVE AWAY

Just 1 more day to go and its H A L L O W E E N !!!

I have been seriously running short of time. I just need a little bit more time to complete all the stuffs I have on hands and I am free to have some fun !

The kids and myself have been having our own little fun shopping for stuffs for the party on sat's night (its halloween and its also my birthday ! YES ! I am a halloween baby who is turning a 1/4 of the century old this year). And seems like I am making halloween a real big deal this year, I have been tagging the kids running around amd looking for deco to match up with the theme for the party, and sadly singapore being singapore there are only so limited stuffs to choose from and damn I cant get hold of much stuffs I seriously wish I could and I am die sure its going to be so great for the theme. WTFH !

But on the other hand, I brought quite a few stuffs to make me happy, well sorta like a (okok) many presents for myself. Till date, from this week monday till now, i have brought like 20 over items. And since, I am in such great party mode, I thought why not share the joy around. I have been re-arranging my scrap materials since I am done with most of the projects etc. I have packed up a stack of random scrap materials as a give away.

The game deal is very simple.
  • Add yourself as a "Follower" if you have not (on the blog's right side banner). If you are already a follower, you are already in the game.
  • Drop me a comment on what you are planning to do on Halloween and/or just to say "HI"
  • Leave your blog address down so I can do some blog hopping.

Dateline : 10th Nov 2009.

The Kids Say " THEY HAD FUN!"

At first, I have already have some plans in mind to let the kiddos have so fun during the Mid Autumn Festivals, but there was a poster that caught my eyes when Levion was having her class at GUG last Friday. Its was a carnival 'invitation' poster that was held over the weekends.

So now... how about a change of plan? *wink*

I didnt tell Levion any of my plans till the very last min that we will be picking up Daddy and heading of to a park for some play. And it was her lucky day, as her dear friend, Kenise will be there.

Thou it was a prefect weather, but who cares about the slight raindrops when we got to have fun with friends.

The kids played, have MacDonald's for dinner.

Had their hands on the real lanterns, made from paper and using candles to give off the lights instead of the modern plastic lanterns that gives off either music or bubbles or even both.

Old school lanterns are so much more fun and exciting !! Trust me. And of cause, I trusted my big girl with those old school lanterns too.

And while the big sisters are at fun.... The little sister got her own share of fun too.

Have a great week ahead, everyone !

Ops

Hey there,

The sick bugs have came to attack my mum. But not to worry, she is better now and is slowly getting her position back to the study room. But seems like Mr Creative is still on a break time.
I will continue to make myself as glue and sticky to my mum as possible. As for sis, Levion... well.. let just say... she is sticking herself to the TV (ops ! Don't tell her, I am the one who say that !)
We will be back real soon.
Meanwhile, take care everyone !

Happy Children Day

Levion had a belated children day party in GUG.

Nothing fancy. Just pure simple food and fun affair during the last 30min of class. The kids had fun having snacks and foods which the parents and the teachers have prepared for them.

And of cause, what's fun without goodies bags and balloons ??

Afterwhich, I brought Levion down to Emiko at Vivo for some crafting time, it seems like this place is slowly turning into our 2nd home. We are there like every once a week.

And on scrapping front, I am still doing this mini maya road chipboard album which I started like weeks ago, and seriously, I am still at the first 2 pages of it. haha... mental block.

Printed Flower Embellishment - D I Y

I have people asking me how do I do my "flowers embellishments" looking thing that kept appearing in my recent layouts. So, I thought why not sharing this little trick.

This was actually being inspired by Making Memories Flower Patch Blossoms and Sassafraslass Layered Blossoms. And since I cant bear to use the actual ones, and since I have the Making Memories Flower Patch Clear Stamp (Flower Style) in my drawer, so I decided to make my own blossoms plus it's a great way to use up those scrap pieces of paperes laying around.

Firstly, you will need the following materials to get started :
  1. scrap / left over papers or white papers (office papers) or even cardstocks.

  2. flowerish stamps that have 2 differents sizes to match and mix with one another

  3. stamp inks

  4. scissors

  5. buttons

  6. 3D foam dots

  7. thread (optional)

In my case, I am using my Making Memories Flower Patch Clear Stamp Set, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Inkpad - Aquamarine and Colorbox Pigment Brush Pad - Chestnut.

Start off by stamping the 2 different size flowers with 2 different colours on those random pieces of scrap papers.

After which, I cut out the smaller size flowers into individuals petals and the bigger size flower as a whole by its own.

Choose a suitable button, I get ready for the next step by preparing my 3D foam dots and thread ready by my side.

Very slow and easy, I will place each cut out individuals petals by popping them up on the base piece aka the bigger flower with 3D foam dots, leaving some space in the centre, enough for the button. Its doesn't matter that you didn't manage to place all the petals down.

Once you are done, place a little piece of foam dot in the centre for the finishing touch - BUTTON !

Thread the button first before placing it down onto the centre, or else you could just leave it alone without threading.

V I O L A ~

You got your own DIY blossom =)

Hope you will enjoy making your own blossoms as much as I had fun doing mine.

Guess what?

I made quite a few, and I will be more then happy to give away a few of them. Interested to get your hands on them ??

Here is the plan :

1. Add yourself a follower to my blog (if you already are a follower, you have already got yourself a chance to this give away)

2. Drop me a comment and let me know what would you like to see more in my blog, beside my life updates and/or family updates. Would you wish I share more of this "How To" projects, or more of those scrapping layouts and projects, or how I create my layouts etc.. anything... Share your views with me.

3. Spread this give away news to everyone else.

4. Leave me your blog addy so I could blog hop over to leave some love <3

The deal :

I will pick out 1 lucky reader by 05th October 2009. And the lucky one will get to recieve a set of this diy blossoms.

Good Luck !!

Pink Sketch #46

For this week's Pink Sketches submission.

I did something a little different from my usual layouts (this was done at 2am on a Fri Morning/Thurs Night by the way), I played with Dabber Paints and used pattern papers to create a circular shape instead of creating or cutting out from papers. And I painstakingly used my Studio G Alphabet Stamp Set to stamp out a quote. I admit, these stamping were a little tad bit too time consuming and my eyes are killing me after completion. But it was all worth it and the layout turn out well.

What a great sunny sunday

I have been thinking where to bring the kids to during this weekend. It was a tough call. We got kinda bored going to shopping centres and neither do I want my kids to grow up being a shopaholic thou its just a matter of time.
So, what would you do on a sunny sunday morning ??

Well, we decided to meet up with Aunty Sophia and her son, Daren, take away our breakfast from MacDonald, and off we go to the B E A C H !!!! What can be more fun? Kids meeting up together for some playdate and the youngest kid got to have her first time on the sand and sea water. I took about 180 photos just for this outing alone >_< " and I am too lazy to do any editing on those photos. I just randomly did collage some photos, which I thought are pretty cute.
So, what did you do on your sunday??
Hope you have as much fun as I had.

Sweet 7 months

Kerris Kaycier Lim @ 7 months old
She is being more attentive and alert, with only 30 mins x 3 napping time thur out the whole day, from 7am - 9.30pm latest. Despite not able to crawl well, and still figuring how to master this skill, she have managed to do a short distance crawling say a single bed width. But she prefer to be standing up and crusing around in her cot.
I heard her saying "mama" only like once or twice, and I am wondering if i seriously heard her saying or am I dreaming. She totally love being around her sister and playing with her.
How time passes by so quickly ....

Its been a long long while + Pink Sketch #44 + RAK

Alright. So I took a little much too long break away from blogging. But it was a well deserved break.
Enjoy some family time during dinner time every nights. Sleeping together with the kids and not waking up after they fall asleep. Not doing any scrapping at all, but never fail to visit Made With Love - Lss, on every Thurdays to check out on their new arrivals. Did a little packing and cleaning around the house. Sorted out my scrapping materials (again, I know. But its a good new to the readers of my blog *wink*). Taking things slow and easy. Did some shopping for myself with nothing scrap related.

But seriously, my materials are pilling up and I thought, I better do something about it. And with Teachers Day just passed, it was a good start. I altered some notebooks and made some 4" cards for Levion's teachers at both GUG and CDC. This big sister of mine wants to get some sweets to share with her friends in both school too. So, together we decorated some brown bags with stamps so those sweet little goodies can go inside and be brought to school to share. And silly me, totally forgotten to take pictures of what was done *GREAT*.

So, as a start, I took out some pattern papers that were still laying inside the pink plastic bag freshly brought from the LSS, and thinking what could be done. Was seriously having a difficult time starting. I dont even know what photos to use. Was staring at the thousands of photos inside my laptop and searching for the ONE !!!

Finally, I found this photo of DH carrying and lifting Levion up into the air when she was nearing 1 year old. I love the smile on her face in this photo. Thou it was not a prefect taken shot but I thought it was still great to be scrap. The greens at the background was prefectly matched for the American Craft papers.

Now, my unoffical first layout -

Flea & Fun

Hosted by: Going OM @ Haji Lane
Supported by: JAE2P & Positive Psychology Center

We are organising our Flea Market on 29th August 2009 (Saturday)!

From the crew that brought you Schools In Nepal Fundraiser (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109836130785), we're back a bigger and better all-day event! The entire Haji Lane will be closed for us to hold our flea market. All the flea market stalls will be along the entire Haji Lane, and they're now available for booking!

Each stall costs $47 and it will be funding the causes we support and future events like organizing educational trips and workshops for orphans.

The time will be from 11am (startup) till 11pm. When the sky turns dark, and we'll be having even more activities after that! Drinks special, date auctions, musical performances, tribal drummers and fire spinners then take center stage.

This event will be bigger than the previous Schools In Nepal fundraiser and we will be marketing this to a huge population via newspapers, magazines and online channels, so this will be a great opportunity for you to get rid of of your old clothes or market your blogshop.

Each stall will be 2m by 1m and whoever makes payment first gets dibs on stall location. No tables or chairs will be provided. Stall owners are to bring their own mats/tables/racks.

Stall booking will be confirmed upon payment. Deadline for payment: 15 August 2009 2359hrs.

To book, email Wei Yan at cheeweiyan@gmail.com, or drop us a message here with your email address.

Please note that we do accept donations and official receipts will be issued for those of you who wish to contribute monetary donations. Thank you!

05.09

Couple of months back, on NSD'09. Where everyone were busy celebrating NSD. I brought the 2 girlies out for a photoshot at a friend's studio.

I just gotten hold of the real actual photos from the shot early last month. And was planning to do something to do, thou the photos from Levion's photoshot last year were still "in-midst-of-completing".

This layout was also for the LSS's DT Call, which I tried my luck. Well, I didnt get into the team, which was fine for me. Its all about trying and having fun right??

This layout was meant to be framed up, but I got to find the right frame design and colour for this first.

Materials- Sizzix, Poincons (the remains after I die cutted as the pages of the "Play" mini album)Papers and Embellishments- Embossed Dots Cardstock, Kraft- Jillibean Soup, Minestrone, Chopped Tomatoes- Sassafraslass, Me Likely, Happy Tunes ( I cutted out the design on the 12" papers and used the cut outs as embellish).

I rarely talk about it

I am someone who hates to be in any situations relating to life and death. Call me a coward. I admit. I can't handle situations like these very well. I can't be in control. I will be so speechless. I don't know how to react or respond. It is so bad that I hate can't watch any horror or ghostly related movies and/or talk about all these related stuffs especially at nights. I will be sleepless and get so nerve wrecking.

When I was so much younger, during the toddler to early grade school days, I deal with 3 deaths, the death of my mum's parents and her youngest sister. I was small. There is nothing for me to do or handle. But everything that happen during the funeral nights, the feelings are still so fresh till date.

As I grow older, I come across a few other death situations with friends and/or friends' relatives but these aren't any 'serious' situations as all I need to do was to go and pray my respect BUT not going anywhere near the coffin nor seeing the person laying inside. I will get totally freak out. And I will get myself a place with my group of friends(if any were going with me) far far away, and refused any eye contact to that certain area. Yes, I am that gut-less.

4 years ago, while dealing with a rough-soon-to be-ending relationship with my then boyfriend. My grandma was down with cancer. I was turning 21 during that year. It was tough not because of the relationship, but because of the health of my grandma. She have been taking care of me almost 7 days a week, at least 12 hours a day ever since I turned 1 year old.

20 years of care.
20 years of commitments.
20 years of unconditional love.

She will bring me whatever places she is going. Be it a majong session at her old neighbourhood. A short shopping trip with my grandfather. You will see me beside her.

She is the one who knew that I only want to eat hard-boiled eggs with dark sauce.
She is the one who taught me to have milo with no milk but sugar.
She is the one who allow me to make a mess with all the pots and pans in the kitchen while she is preparing meals.
She is the one who make sure there wasn't any bones in my fishes.
She is the one who bring up me up and down during my school days.
She is the one who make sure I have eaten well before sending me downstair and accompany me till my school bus arrive, and making sure I have food to eat and someone will be waiting for me downstair when I alight from my school bus after school.
She is the one who knows actually what my favourite food are. And will cooked them specially for me when I goes back for dinner.
And now, instead of "she is the one", it is now "she was the one"

I have always wanting to get marry young. Not because of anything major but it was more like a promise. A promise that I made to myself after having a little conversation with my grandma during my teenager days.

She (jokingly) : " Girl ah, po po old already. Next time when you get marry. I wouldn't be around to see that day"
Me (getting all so chocked up but still acting tough) : "Siao ah, you must be crazy. You will for sure be around to see that day.

So, it was very intense for me to know that, my grandma in a horrible health condition and me dealing with all the ups and downs of old relationship and a new relationship with someone not so new. That's was a bad year for me.

No one will have any slightly idea how I am feeling and am going thur. I wasn't allow to visit my grandma towards to the later part of the months as I was preparing for my wedding. I made all sort of arrangement, all the just in case when things happen, where will she be sitting, will there be anyone to be around with her etc etc. All the way, preparing for a happy event, I wasn't allow to be near her at her bedside, to share the joy or seek for any opinions. I felt the pressures. I felt lonely and helpless in a way. There was joy going around the family, everyone getting prepare for my big day. With me so busy with all the gown fitting, photo taking, wedding cards printing etc. All these preparations kept me sane. I totally shut myself off from thinking anything bad about my grandma. I was totally shut off. Doing what I am suppose to be doing. Being tough. Acting like it doesn't really matter. Taking it all so well as what Joseph told me few days ago.

She was fighting for that day to come. She tried. No one can understand the pain and suffering she is going thur at that time. I am proud of her.

But things don't often go the way we wanted them to. Promises are often empty. My grandma passed away just 3 days before my wedding. I wasn't even allow to be anywhere near her funeral. Not even peeking thur my bedroom's window. I was totally banned. I was the only one who didn't get to see her during the last mins. I was the only one who didn't get to know how she look like during her last few months. Maybe for some reasons, it was good. I will always remember her the way she was during the early phase of her sick days, her better looking days.

A close 4 years. It been a close 4 years since the day she left.

Now, we are dealing with another similar situation, or should I say, I am the one dealing. My uncle was down with cancer late last year. His current condition wasn't that optimistic. Doctor is giving him another 3 months. Just had a family gathering discussion last week. The look on my dad's is similar to 4 years ago. I know that look on his face. This is going to be tough. I am feeling that I am going to shut myself off again. I am such a sucker at handling situations like this. I can voice out my thoughts, I make noise about this and that. But coming to handling the extact situation, I think I will freak and freeze.

My uncle have accepted the fact. He said :
"My new mission now is to go and accompany my mother and take care of her. While your (his wife) mission now is to take good care of the 2 kids. It's just a matter of time that we will meet up again."

Keep each of us in your prayer.
We need the strength. We need the faith.

Amen.

blog from my phone

I seriously have no idea what is wrong with blooger on my laptop. I can't access to a proper new posting section. Damn it!!

Alright. I know its been a while since I actually blog. I am so sorry that I have neglected this blog.

Firstly, some of you might already know what I have been busy with. Beside doing a major revamping of my bedroom and the scrap room, I finally tried out my luck at our LSS's DT Call. If you know me well enough, its not difficult to know that I hardly and rarely try out for any DT or GDT Calls, be it locally or international. So, this was suppose to be a dare and a bet from DH, he actually dare me to submit and told me that if I am going to win this spot, he will be sponsoring for my scrap materials. That was the push. I putted my name up, took a pack of die cuts from the LSS and from the day on. I never had a proper night.

1 : Kerris had super sleepless and terrible nights for nearly 4 days. She whined and cried from 8pm to near midnight, refuses her bed or my bed. She wasn't wet or hungry. And from 2am. onwards till the sun rises, she have a every hour crying sessions. Latched her on, but she only suckle like a couple of mouth and sleep again, hour later the whole routine start again.

2 : with Kerris's drama nights, it make this mama even more tired as my day starts at 7am. So, after attending to Kerris till sun rises ( Kerris is awake when the sun rises till about 10am before she nap again, by the way) I got to wake Levion up and prepare her for her school.

3 : being mojo-less on top of the kids handling doesn't make this whole submissions for rhetorical call any easy. I was particularly staring at all my scrap materials and they staring back at me. And I only managed to sit down and get scrapping only 2 days before the dateline which is thursday. And I spent the whole of tuesday cutting out the designs from the 12" pattern paper from Sassafrass, me likely, happy tune.

4 : I could only squeeze out a new layout, a super easy and simple mini album and the Must-use-siZzix-and-submit-to-the-store layout. The other layout which I submitted for actually the old layout which was for LabelTulip birthday scraplift challenge (see earlier post, is the layout of me kissing Levion when she was a baby ).

I will try to upload the layouts soon when blooger decided to work normal on me.

Regarding the charity drive by moments recorded, the cards are referred to be either theme-less or general theme. Leaving the inside of the cards blank. =) and the card drive will be an on going drive, so even if we were to reach end of this month or hit the 250 target, we are still welcoming any cards to be sold on the singaporemotherhood forum, where a thread had been set up especially for this drive by the person in charge odds this charity drive. ( I am not the person in charge, I am just helping out in ways that I can )

Have a wonderful weekend my friends!

Moments Recorded Charity Drive

As most of you know, MR was set up to help scrapping mummies to thin down their ever piling high materials.

As mummy to 2 kids myself, I know how difficult times will be if the kids are sick. Not to mentioned having a kid down with cancer. My grandmother died of cancer and now my youngest uncle is suffering from it too, so I can totally understand how tough the situation can be.

Earlier this month, a fellow scrapping mother came up with a Fund Raising thur scrapbooking for Charmaine (Please refer to these websites for more information on Charmaine: http://www.ourfeistyprincess.blogspot.com/ http://www.ourfeistyprincess.com/ ) a 4yr old girl with neuroblastoma, a form of cancer and is at her 4th stage of chemo now. Her condition is very serious as the cancer has spread to her bone marrow and bones. The family needs USD350,000 as deposit to bring her to New York for treatment. They will need more than that as this is going to be a long fight.

*UPDATE*
The family have already hit the USD$350,000. However, they still need our support. Subsequent treatment cost will be tapping on any additional amount left from the fund raise.
How can I possibly reject and not spread this new about this brave little girl. She needs our help no matter how big or small it may be at the end.

HOW YOU CAN HELP ?

Moments Recorded is inviting all scrappers around the world to help spread the love.

I am hoping to hit a target of at least 250 cards to be up for sale in the month of August.
Each interested scrapper are needed to create at least 4 of these 4" cards, and are most welcome to create more cards to allow us to hit the target earlier.

Please kindly email themomentsrecorded@gmail.com and let me know how many cards you would be pledging, with the subject as "Charity Drive #1".All cards are to reach me by 29th July 2009.

*The measurement will be 4"x8" so they will be 4"x4" when folded. You are able to create 4 of these 4" from a 12"x12"*

THANKS.

Please help spread the news. Its time to spread the love and help the needs.
